Kidepo Valley National Park
Africa's most remote wilderness
About this destination
A semi-arid Karamoja valley ringed by mountains — Uganda's wildest and least-visited park.
CNN named Kidepo one of Africa's three best parks. It rewards the traveller willing to fly two hours northeast: cheetah, ostrich, lesser kudu, caracal and bat-eared fox — species seen nowhere else in Uganda.
Narus Valley delivers dependable game viewing year-round; in the dry months the Kidepo River sand bed becomes a stage for elephants, lions and buffalo herds 1,000 strong.
Stay at Apoka inside the park, and add a Karamojong manyatta visit to meet the warrior pastoralists who share this land.
