1. Introduction
This Health and Safety Policy outlines the commitment of Kuzuri Escapades ("the Company") to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all our clients, staff, and third parties participating in or affected by our safari and tour operations and other related activities done by the company. Confirming a safari or travel experience with Kuzuri Escapades signifies that the client has read, understood, and accepted this Health and Safety Policy together with our Terms and Conditions.
All clients are strongly encouraged to raise any queries or special health and safety requirements before booking through our email address stated above.
2. General Policy Statement
Kuzuri Escapades is committed to conducting all its operations in a manner that safeguards life, health, and property of our clients and staff, while promoting environmental conservation and responsible tourism.
We shall:
- Ensure that all safaris, tours, and related services are organized and conducted in compliance with applicable health and safety laws in Uganda and other jurisdictions to where we extend our operations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act Cap 231 of Uganda and relevant wildlife and tourism regulations.
- Provide our staff, guides, and clients with information, training, and resources to maintain a safe and healthy travel experience.
- Take all reasonable precautions to prevent injury, illness, or damage to persons or property throughout the safari experience.
- Continuously review our safety measures and risk management practices.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, tour managers, drivers, contractors, and clients participating in our tours within Uganda and across East Africa.
4. Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Compliance
Kuzuri Escapades operates in full compliance with Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) licensing requirements and tourism safety standards. We adhere to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) regulations and all Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities guidelines.
5. Health and Medical Preparedness
- Clients must disclose any medical conditions, disabilities, allergies, or special dietary requirements at the time of booking.
- Clients are advised to obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering illness, injury, death, medical evacuation, repatriation, loss of personal effects, and trip cancellation.
- All clients must ensure they have received necessary immunisations and medications (e.g., for yellow fever, malaria prophylaxis, COVID-19, etc.) prior to travel and across East Africa.
6. Transport & Road Safety
All vehicles are regularly serviced, inspected, and equipped with first aid kits, fire extinguishers, emergency triangles, and spare tires. Drivers must hold valid licenses and follow defensive driving principles.
7. Wildlife & Safari Safety
All safaris and trekking activities strictly follow park regulations. Clients must attend safety briefings and comply with ranger instructions at all times.
8. Emergency Response Procedures
In case of medical emergencies or accidents, first aid will be administered immediately, authorities contacted, and management notified. Incident reports must be completed within 24 hours.
9. Staff Health & Welfare
The company ensures proper training, fair working conditions, protective equipment where necessary, and continuous safety education.
10. Risk Assessment
Risk assessments are conducted prior to every trip, including route planning, weather monitoring, and client health evaluation.
Appendix A: Infectious Disease Control
Kuzuri Escapades follows Ministry of Health guidelines regarding infectious diseases. Sanitizers are provided in vehicles, hygiene practices are encouraged, and clients are advised to follow vaccination and health recommendations before travel. During outbreaks, additional protective measures will be implemented as required by authorities.
