Semuliki National Park
A slice of the Ituri rainforest
About this destination
The only true lowland Congolian forest in East Africa — hot springs, Central African birds and the Batwa pygmy people.
Semuliki is Uganda's most botanically unusual park — an eastern arm of the great Congo Basin forest, with species (and birds) found nowhere else in East Africa. The Sempaya Hot Springs bubble at 103 °C in a forest clearing where you can boil an egg in three minutes.
Birders chase 441 species including 46 of the 56 Guinea-Congo biome specials. Cultural visits include the Batwa pygmy community on the park edge.
