Our flagship birder's odyssey — 23 Albertine Rift endemics, the Shoebill, Fox's Weaver and 600+ species across Bwindi, QENP, Kibale, Kidepo, Pian Upe and Mabira.
Twenty-six days for the most serious birders — a specialist expedition through virtually every key Ugandan habitat. Mabamba's shoebill swamps, Bwindi's 23 of 26 Albertine Rift endemics, the 610+ species of Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Mile at Budongo, and Pian Upe's Fox's Weaver, the only place on earth it occurs.
Day 1 — Arrive Entebbe; optional Botanical Gardens birding by Lake Victoria.
Day 2 — Mabamba Bay shoebill morning (Papyrus Gonolek, African Pygmy-Goose, Long-toed Lapwing) and an afternoon Botanical Gardens session.
Day 3 — On to Lake Mburo NP with en-route birding (Plains Zebra, Impala, Eland, Topi).
Day 4 — A 6–7 hour scenic drive south-west to Bwindi.
Day 5 — Optional gorilla tracking in Bwindi (one hour with a habituated family).
Day 6 — Birding the Ruhija sector — Africa's number one hotspot, with 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
Day 7 — Birding Buhoma for sunbirds, turacos, bee-eaters, bush-shrikes and orioles.
Day 8 — Mid-elevation rainforest birding (African Wood-Owl, Black Bee-eater, African Broadbill).
Day 9 — North to Queen Elizabeth NP via Ishasha and its tree-climbing lions.
Day 10 — Game drive and Kazinga Channel boat cruise (Striated Heron, African Spoonbill, Water Thick-knee).
Day 11 — Kibale Forest chimpanzee tracking (Speckle-breasted Woodpecker, Joyful Greenbul).
Day 12 — Bigodi wetland and Fort Portal birding.
Day 13 — A full day birding Semuliki Forest.
Day 14 — Long transfer to Masindi with en-route birding.
Day 15 — The Royal Mile of Budongo at first light (Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, Ituri Batis).
Day 16 — On to Murchison Falls NP.
Day 17 — Morning game drive and an afternoon Victoria Nile boat trip.
Day 18 — Long transfer north to Kidepo Valley NP.
Day 19 — Birding Apoka headquarters and the Narus Valley airstrip grasslands.
Day 20 — Full day birding in Kidepo (Black-headed Plover, Singing Bush Lark, Kori Bustard).
Day 21 — South to Moroto with birding in Bokora-Matheniko Wildlife Reserve.
Day 22 — Mount Moroto birding and an afternoon transfer to Pian Upe.
Day 23 — Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve birding — Common Ostrich, Fox's Weaver, Stone Partridge.
Day 24 — Mount Elgon and the Sipi Falls area.
Day 25 — On to Mabira Forest via Jinja and the Nile crossing (Forest Robin, Nahan's Francolin, Tit Hylia).
Day 26 — A final morning's birding, then transfer to Entebbe International for departure.
