Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
The model that changed African conservation
About this destination
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the original community wildlife conservancy — 14% of Kenya's eastern black rhino live here.
Founded in 1995, Lewa pioneered the model that now stewards over 9 million acres of Kenyan wilderness. Its 250 km² of acacia bushland and grassland holds 169 black rhino, 95 white rhino, 14% of the world's Grevy's zebra, and a dense population of elephants.
Lewa offers walking safaris, horseback safaris, camel treks, and the famous Lewa Marathon held every June.
