Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is small, dry and famous. Its swamps — fed by underground melt from Kilimanjaro across the border in Tanzania — sustain herds of long-tusked elephants studied continuously since 1972 by the Amboseli Trust for Elephants.

Sunrise and sunset frame Kilimanjaro at its clearest. Observation Hill gives a 360° panorama of the park's mosaic of swamps, plains and pan.

Stay at Tortilis Camp or Ol Donyo Lodge in the adjacent Chyulu conservancies for off-road game viewing and walking with Maasai guides.
