The Chyulu Hills are among the youngest mountains on earth — a chain of 100 cinder cones and shield volcanoes formed less than 1.4 million years ago. The cloud forest captures rain that filters through lava to feed Mzima Springs and the Amboseli swamps.
Game viewing is more discreet than the Mara — but big tuskers, lion, cheetah and a healthy black rhino population are all here. Ol Donyo Lodge and Campi ya Kanzi offer the most distinguished stays.
