Tarangire National Park
Land of giants & baobabs
About this destination
Tanzania's elephant capital — multi-hundred herds against silhouetted baobabs in the dry months.
From July to October, the Tarangire River draws wildlife from the surrounding Maasai Steppe — making this the second-densest concentration of game in Tanzania after the Ngorongoro Crater. Elephant herds 300-strong, tree-climbing pythons, fringe-eared oryx, gerenuk and over 550 bird species.
Stay at Sanctuary Swala or the private Manyara Ranch Conservancy for walking safaris and night drives unavailable in the park itself.
