Kivu is the perfect interlude between gorilla trekking and Nyungwe. Three lakeside towns — Gisenyi, Kibuye and Cyangugu — each offer a different rhythm: Gisenyi for boutique hotels and Congo border buzz, Kibuye for island hopping and quiet, Cyangugu for forest access.
