A focused fourteen-day birding circuit — Mabamba shoebill, Lake Mburo, Bwindi Albertine Rift endemics, QENP, Kibale, Murchison and Royal Mile Budongo.
A fourteen-day specialist birding tour covering Uganda's prime western hotspots, with a serious shot at the iconic Shoebill, the 23 Albertine Rift endemics found in Bwindi and over 600 species in Queen Elizabeth alone. Best in the dry seasons (December–February or June–August).
Day 1 — Arrive Entebbe International Airport, welcome and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 — Transfer to Lake Mburo NP via the Equator at Kayabwe; afternoon boat cruise (Red-faced Barbet endemic, African Finfoot, Long-tailed Cisticola).
Day 3 — Long birding transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP via the Kigezi highlands. Overnight in the Ruhija sector.
Day 4 — Full day birding in Mubwindi swamp on the 4 km trail (Grauer's Broadbill, Regal Sunbird, Archer's Robin-Chat, Dwarf Honeyguide, Stripe-breasted Tit, Ruwenzori Apalis, Handsome Francolin).
Day 5 — Birding from Ruhija through 'the neck' to Buhoma sector (Red-throated Alethe, Rwenzori Batis, Blue-headed Sunbird, Strange Weaver).
Day 6 — Optional mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi (2–6 hours), one hour with a habituated family.
Day 7 — Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP via the Ishasha sector (tree-climbing lions).
Day 8 — Morning Kasenyi game drive and afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise (Striated Heron, African Spoonbill, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl).
Day 9 — Transfer to Kibale Forest NP with en-route birding.
Day 10 — Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and an afternoon Bigodi wetland nature walk (Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, Yellow-spotted Barbet).
Day 11 — Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 12 — Morning game drive, afternoon Nile boat cruise and hike to the Top of the Falls.
Day 13 — Full day birding the Royal Mile of Budongo Forest (Dwarf Kingfisher, Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, Nahan's Francolin).
Day 14 — Return birding drive to Entebbe International Airport for departure.
