The Package
A ten-day primate and wildlife circuit — rhino tracking at Ziwa, Murchison Falls, Kibale chimps, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi gorillas and Lake Bunyonyi.
Ten days that move you through Uganda the way the country actually unfolds: rhinos on foot at sunrise, the Nile splitting itself open at Murchison, chimpanzees calling overhead in Kibale, and the long misty climb to the gorillas in Bwindi. A complete loop that ends, fittingly, on the still water of Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 1 — North to Murchison Falls with a foot-tracking detour at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary — the only place in Uganda where white rhino still roam wild.
Day 2 — Murchison morning: lions on the Buligi tracks, jackson hartebeest blinking at the sun, warthogs trotting the verges. Afternoon: a Nile boat cruise to the very foot of the falls, with the option to hike to the top for the full violence of the water folding through the 7-metre gap.
Day 3 — South-west to Kibale Forest via Fort Portal, tea plantations giving way to the Rwenzori horizon.
Day 4 — Dawn in Kibale among habituated chimpanzees, then onward to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 5 — Kasenyi track game drive at first light; afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel for elephant at the water's edge.
Day 6 — Maramagambo Forest nature walk and a Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee tracking — a forest sunk below the savanna like a secret.
Day 7 — On to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector and its tree-climbing lions, the savanna giving way to mist and bamboo as the road climbs.
Day 8 — Bwindi gorilla morning — the long forest walk, the silver back appearing without warning. Afternoon: a Batwa community walk with the original forest people.
Day 9 — To Lake Bunyonyi for a canoe ride between the islands and a hilltop nature walk above the water.
Day 10 — Back to Kampala via Mbarara and the Equator, the trip closing where it began.
Price: $3,359 – $6,209 per person depending on lodge category.
